DUNLAP MEMORIAL TT

Today, was nearly perfect day for a TT.  Only problem was a headwind.  I got registered and put my brand-new Mavic Cosmic SL wheels.  I got warmed up and broke into a sweat.  My strategy for today was to get into my big chain-ring but lowest cog and do a short sprint moderately paced sprint, shift down four cogs and ride the first mile at a medium pace.  When I made the turn I wanted to 90% and on the way back, full out.  I was surprised that the kid in front of me almost fell off the ramp cause the lady holding him wouldn’t let go.  I faced three problems at this race.  First, I had Alexander Freund, Allistar Eeckman, and Andrew Biscardi behind me.  Second, right when I started they let a truck through and according to my dad Larry was trying to tell me to get around.  Lastly, my speedometer wasn’t working, sometimes it would say I was going 21.5 and sometimes it said 4, I knew I was going exceptionally fast but I knew I wasn’t going that slow.  At the turnaround it wasn’t working at all.  So I made a goal for myself, don’t get passed by Freund.  It would have worked, had I had nitrogen screwed into my bike.  I was passed by everybody so I knew my time wouldn’t be great.  At the first turn I was ready to go 90% but for some reason my legs felt like crap.  I turned around and got into a high gear right in the middle of the cassette and drilled it all the way back.  By the finish I could barely stand.  Overall, great race for me and great experience.  Looking forward to doing it next year.  Congratulations to everybody who got an award and to Alexander Freund, state champion in the TT, RR, CRIT, and JPS
