Santa Cruz Criterium

posted in: Race report | 3

Let me first say ths race is not for the faint of heart… Course starts on top of a hill maybe only 500′ but you will climb it 20 times at sprint speed. Top of the hill goes into a slight downward sloap into a hairpin descente to 700-800 yards of flat into 2 quick right-turns into to a couple step ups and a quick 200 yard climb onto a flase flat back to the S/F. Repeat. I made some bad choices in the week and very limited rest and recovery time. I had no idea what I was in-store for. Finished back of the pack in E4’s and off the back in the M35+4’s.

congrats Erik. Santa Cruz truly is a “classic” course. One of my favorites! Cat’s Hill is another great course. Good luck in your training, AND in your recovery.

Good race Erik. I’ve yet to try Santa Cruz. Sounds as hard or harder than Cat’s Hill.

Thanks guys, I think I am still recovering 4 days later. I am only doing 1 category at Cats Hill.
